This set of four pieces was written in honor for the Birthday of George Stanley Macy, born June 3, 2015 to Alex and Jess Macy in Oakland, California.  The first movement (“Hello George”) is the meat of the set as it warmly welcomes George to the world.  The remaining three movements are “little dreams,” or entertainments designed around baby George.  The first is “Charlie the Cat;” Charlie is the name of the cat that cohabitates the floor of the house.  The second, “Chasing Bears and Birds,” is my fantasy of a dream George may have some day.  The last, Little Old Lady Whispering Hush,” is a lullaby and the reference is to “Goodnight Moon,” one of my favorite children’s books written by Margeret Wise Brown.  This set of Birthday Musics was written to be performed by Kelleen Boyer and myself.
