Birthday Music for Darius, Rumi and Razi was composed at the request of their parents, Marshall and Panthea Howland. Darius, the older brother, tragically live but a few seconds; Rumi and Razi are happily flourshing in their young lives. The spoken lines are taken from poems by the great Persian poet, Rumi. David Elyoussoufi, cello, and John Jensen, piano performed the piece in my home with the parents and Rumi and Razi present. Their presence can be heard occasionally.
