Expanse was originally composed for viola, french horn and piano. William Street and Richard Dirlam requested a fun, new piece they could take to the World Sax Congress 2024 in Harbin, China. I re-imagined the earlier “Expanse” for alto and bari saxophones and piano. A number of bits and pieces were changed to fit the sax idiom and short, exciting fugue was added near the end. The recording presented here is a computer realization while I await a recording from either the China performance or the Italian performance.
