Jazz Suite was composed for great student student musicians in the 1982/1983 MacJazz Big Band at Macalester College. The suite has three movements: 1. Spurning the Moment, 2. Clouds, and 3. Inversion Blues. Spurning the Moment uses a tone row; Clouds is infused with whole-tone scales and clusters; Inversion Blues presents an inverted blues progression along side the norm. 1st alto doubles flute and 2nd alto doubles soprano sax or clarinet.
