The Moon and the Virgin is composed for amplified flute, amplified voice, synthesizer, and one percussionist playing five tom-toms, 5 suspended cymbals, gong, xylophone, metal wind chimes, and a selection of 5 resonant pieces of metal.

The Moon and the Virgin was composed for Becky Heist and the Macalester College Dance Ensemble for a dance piece titled Expressions of the Archetypal Woman which itself is based upon the book, “The Moon and the Virgin” by Nor Hall.  The performing ensemble consisted of Macalester student musicians: Ethan Torrey, Rose Rinder, Matthew brritt, John Rochon and Tom Cravens.
