The three songs that make up Douce Dame are based upon texts and music by Guillaume Machaut (c. 1300-1377).  The movements are:  1. Fire, Fire; 2. Se Je Souspir; 3. Douce Dame.  An alternate version using the Pierrot Ensemble (without viola) is also offered here.

“Douce Dame” was written for Laura Nichols, mezzo-soprano, and members of the Macalester College studio faculty upon the occasion of the opening of the Mairs Concert Hall at Macalester College.  Parts are available upon request.
