Intensity is written for 4 flutes amplified by playing into separate mics that will allow live adjustment of the proximity to the mic.  Although the performers should be arranged as a close ensemble, the amplification should be placed so that there is the greatest possible separation of parts, ideally using quadraphonic amplification around the audience.
