Recorder Set was composed for myself and my friend, Jerome Kohl.  It is the first of many of my compositions that use the B-A-C-H motif.  In this case the motif will be found more or less obviously in most of the five movements.  The set begins with a “Fanfare,” and then proceeds through 4 dance movements: Slow Dance, Round Dance, Duple Dance, and Triple Dance.  As such, it is modeled after the Baroque suites of dances that are often called Sonatas.
